The caterpillar-New weapon against malnutrition and poverty

Starting this September, the Fasopro workshop will debut the first canned caterpillars in Burkina Faso, “Toumou Delights.” It is the initiative of a young Burkinabe engineer, Kahitouo Hien. The process is on its way.

2月14日是情人节,正当大家都在浪漫过节时,关山镇生活美学协会邀请圣十字架疗养院16位年近80岁的修女到位于米国学校后方的穗饱民宿听音乐、吃点心,享受宛如和家人过节般的悠闲时光,对于所受的招待高培兰院长感恩的说:「就像是吃下午茶一样的轻松自在」。

Saving the weakest via The Ripple Effect

FREDERICK Yeo, son of lawyer and philanthropist Jennifer Yeo, does not recall the pain he suffered when he had leukaemia as a child. Instead, he recalls the warmth of doctors and caregivers at St Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, US. He was diagnosed with cancer at three. He has since recovered and, now 21, is studying to be a doctor.

煮1碗面捐1碗钱

“你吃一碗面,帮你捐一碗钱”,走进周金发的”波阿斯一○一.五心级牛肉面店”,满牆的感谢状、捐款明细,他四年来每卖出一碗牛肉面,扣除基本的食材、人事费用后,将盈余全数捐给邻近小学作为教育基金。(图,王柔婷摄)

卖牛肉面的周金发,四年来卖出上万碗“爱心牛肉面”,累计捐出二百廿万元盈馀,有受惠国小的校长讚誉他是”新店陈树菊”,六十六岁的他肝癌末期,仍不轻言休息。

These drones save lives

One day last year in the British countryside, well-dressed men riding expensive horses were engaging in a familiar sport when they heard a strange buzzing noise.

It came from a quadcopter, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) roughly the size of a small fox with helicopter-like rotors and a video camera.

一群来自各行各业,却常聚在一起吃早餐的「娘子军」,因志同道合组成「微笑志工团」,常走访各育幼院为院童说故事、唱歌,还募集二手物资、玩具给他们,满满的爱心让院童感觉温暖。

“I owed it to you for being able to stand upright here”

What had been kept at heart for seven years was finally uttered. Mrs Jennifer Yeo, the wife of former Singapore foreign minister Mr George Yeo, took their son to Tzu Chi’s East Region office on Jun 10 to thank the Samaritan who donated the bone marrow which saved her youngest son.

 “I want to thank the donor. He has made it possible for me to stand upright here.” A 17-year-old Frederick uttered each word with endless gratitude and joy of a rebirth, his youthful and shy face sparkling with strong determination.
