贴身照顾截肢夫 妻:我算是幸运的看护者

一个爱出门,一个爱在家,因吃鱼生细菌感染截肢的技工妻子,为贴身照顾没手没脚的丈夫,再累也陪丈夫找朋友或去体障橄榄球训练,心酸委屈都默默忍受,获得看护者个人奖。

52岁陈惠文前年因吃了生鱼后,疑受感染B族链球菌(简称GBS)严重感染而上吐下泻,入院后一度性命垂危。虽然之后获救,但他双掌双脚发黑坏死,必须截肢,从此生活有了巨大改变。

A boy, the 83-year-old loner, and the unlikely friendship that changed them both

Grandfather Bill Teoh, a self-professed loner with little patience for the ignorant and a disdain for youngsters, could easily be typecast as a grumpy old man. The last time he spoke to a teenager was years ago, he confesses.

He grumbles about those he sees frequent a LAN gaming shop opposite the comic book store he owns.

“They pay S$10 for 24 hours, they can stay there the whole day,” he complains, arguing that they should be spending their time reading instead. “I feel sorry for the future of Singapore. These young people are out of control.”

迟来29年的“我愿意”!两人各有一段破裂婚姻,却因相知相惜交往29年,前“加龙古尼”患癌命垂危,临死前再度求婚,女友含泪成全,两人在婚姻注册官的见证下,在慈怀护理进行简单的注册仪式。

这对痴情男女是陈女士(62岁)和许华生(59岁),两人29年前因一次偶然邂逅结缘,多年来彼此相伴守护。

Belinda Charles has spent her life in education, first as a teacher and principal and today as a mentor to principals. As a lifelong educator, the dean of the Academy of Principals has long believed that schools need to inspire students to keep learning all their lives.

But do schools today successfully do this? Is the love for learning killed by standardised tests, streaming and academic competitiveness?
